How to Read This Chart
Individual Buyer Fee vs. Business Buyer Fee
The two "Buyer Fee" columns show the largest variable cost. Individual buyers (public members) pay a 22-tier fee schedule that ranges from $25 on tiny bids to 15% for bids over $10,000. Business buyers (licensed dealers) pay a simpler 6-tier schedule with significantly lower rates. At $5,000, the individual buyer fee is $950 while the business buyer fee is $750 — and the gap widens further at higher amounts.
Internet Bid Fee
This column shows the internet bid fee charged to online bidders. It starts at $0 for bids under $100 and rises through eight tiers to $129 for bids over $8,000. This fee is not charged if you bid in person at a live auction or at a Copart kiosk. The internet fee is the same for both individual and business buyers.
Gate Fee
The gate fee is a flat $95.00 charge that applies to every vehicle purchase regardless of bid amount, buyer type, or auction method. It covers vehicle preparation for pickup and administrative processing.
Additional Fees
Copart bundles environmental handling, service, and document mailing charges into an estimated flat fee of $59.00. This amount may vary slightly by location and vehicle type.
Total Columns
The two total columns represent the all-in estimated cost (bid + all fees) for online bidders. "Total (Indiv.)" is for individual buyers bidding online, and "Total (Business)" is for business buyers bidding online. If you bid in person, subtract the Internet Fee from your total.
